The Cowboys’ current cap space might throw a wrench in any hopes of landing Myles Garrett.

Whenever a top player requests a trade, the Dallas Cowboys are always mentioned as a potential destination, thanks to their status as one of the NFL’s most popular and high-profile teams. So when Myles Garrett’s trade request from the Cleveland Browns made headlines, fans quickly started imagining him in a Cowboys uniform. However, a return to Dallas for Garrett seems highly unlikely, and here’s why: the Cowboys are in a tough financial spot.

Currently, the Cowboys rank 26th in the league for cap space, sitting at -$2.3 million. With Dak Prescott as the highest-paid player and CeeDee Lamb also commanding a hefty paycheck, the team’s finances are stretched thin. While restructuring deals for Prescott and Lamb, along with locking up Micah Parsons on a long-term contract, could free up some space in the offseason, that’s still just a “maybe.”

As much as Cowboys fans would love to see Garrett join the team, it’s time to face the reality: it’s not happening anytime soon.
