But there was something… that was missing.
Williams, who was traded to the Yankees this offseason after spending six years with the Milwaukee Brewers, has been known for his signature beard throughout his career. He even arrived at camp on Tuesday with his facial hair. However, by Wednesday, it had completely disappeared.
Before anyone jumps to conclusions, the proof is there—Williams did in fact arrive at camp with a beard. It’s just that, as Yankees tradition demands, facial hair has to be removed before officially donning a suit. No beards in pinstripes, that’s the rule.
It’s notable that the Yankees are still implementing this policy in 2025, but Williams isn’t the first player to go through this change. Like many players before him, he accepted it without much trouble.
The beard may be gone, but Yankees fans are hoping his impressive pitching remains.
