Jiggle-powered action game Stellar Blade confirmed for PC release in June:
Stellar Blade, the stylish anime-inspired action game from South Korean studio Shift Up, is officially coming to PC in June 2025. First published by Sony as a PS5 exclusive, the game takes players on a journey through a post-apocalyptic Earth, where protagonist Eve battles grotesque monsters with a combat system built on combos, parries, and gauge-based super moves. Designed by Hee-Cheol Jang, known for his creature work in Okja and The Host, Stellar Blade offers an open-world experience filled with NPC quest-givers and bizarre enemies.
Described by some as “Bayonetta played straight,” Eve is not only the centerpiece of the game’s intense combat but also a lightning rod for controversy. Since its console release, her skin-tight metallic bodysuit (and the jiggle physics that come with it) has sparked a vocal fanbase of defenders, who see her as a beacon of unfiltered fun in a world complicated by discussions of the male gaze. However, things took a turn when Shift Up added a more modest outfit with a high-collared undershirt for the international release—a move some players saw as betrayal.
The backlash was immediate and predictably loud, with hashtags like #freestellarblade and petitions decrying “censorship” circulating across social media. It was a surreal moment in gaming culture—think Les Misérables, but with a focus on virtual cleavage instead of revolution.
Despite the noise, Stellar Blade has largely been praised for its gameplay. Eurogamer reviewer Jessica Orr called it “surprisingly endearing,” with “killer tunes and vibey, flow-state combat.” The PC version will reportedly be “optimised for PC” and will include post-launch content from the console version, such as a photo mode and the upcoming Goddess of Nikke DLC.
In short, Stellar Blade promises to deliver both high-octane action and a glimpse into one of gaming’s more peculiar cultural flashpoints. Whether players are there for the combat or just to, ahem, appreciate the aesthetics, this PC release is sure to make waves again.
