Allison Holker, wife of late dancer and TV personality Stephen “twitch’s” Boss, shared a deeply personal revelation about her husband’s struggles before his tragic passing.
Allison Holker Boss, in a recent interview promoting her memoir This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, recalled the moment when she believes her late husband, Stephen “tWitch” Boss, changed forever. Holker Boss revealed that Boss had gone on an “ayahuasca journey” that left him different afterward. She noted that his heart never seemed in the same place when he returned, and there was something missing in his eyes. Holker Boss expressed sadness over what her husband went through and emphasized that while she would always celebrate him, she struggled to fully celebrate some of his choices, especially those that had lasting effects on their children.
She shared that their children, Maddox, 9, and Zaia, 5, are deeply hurt by their father’s decisions and are in therapy to work through the trauma. However, she was proud of their efforts to heal and find joy and laughter again, though they will have a lifelong journey ahead of them.
Holker Boss also discussed the decision to share her and Stephen’s story in her memoir, despite facing criticism. She explained that her intention was to help others by sharing their experiences, hoping to raise awareness about mental health issues and the red flags that may be missed. She emphasized the importance of understanding mental health warning signs to prevent similar tragedies.
Since Stephen’s death in December 2022, Holker Boss has worked with organizations like the National Alliance of Mental Health to better educate herself on mental health issues, aiming to help others and prevent further loss. She believes that if Stephen had the choice, he would want his story told to save even one life.
