Caroline Kennedy strongly criticizes cousin RFK Jr., calling him a “predator” ahead of his confirmation hearing.
Caroline Kennedy, cousin of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., is urging U.S. senators to reject him as the next Secretary of Health and Human Services, expressing serious concerns in a sharp letter sent Tuesday. The letter, which was shared via social media, came ahead of RFK Jr.’s anticipated confirmation hearing on Wednesday, a session expected to be contentious.
“I’ve known Bobby my whole life; we grew up together,” Caroline wrote. “It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets, because he himself is a predator.”
She went on to state that RFK Jr.’s views on vaccines disqualify him from such a prominent role in shaping U.S. health policy. The health secretary oversees critical agencies like the CDC and the FDA, making Caroline’s concerns even more pronounced. She also criticized his lack of relevant government, medical, or management experience, and warned that his stance on vaccines could endanger public health. RFK Jr. has been a long-time vaccine skeptic, controversially linking vaccines to autism without evidence.
Caroline added that she was speaking out due to the high-profile position her cousin could hold in a potential Trump administration. President Trump has promised to restore the U.S. health agencies to “the traditions of gold standard scientific research.”
In her message, Caroline accused RFK Jr. of preying on vulnerable parents of sick children, highlighting his hypocrisy in discouraging vaccinations for others while vaccinating his own children. She also made troubling accusations about his personal life, alleging he encouraged family members to engage in substance abuse and claiming that he once showed off cruelty toward animals by harming baby chicks and mice.
A former U.S. ambassador, Caroline concluded that both her father, President John F. Kennedy, and her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, would be “disgusted” by her cousin’s actions.
RFK Jr. has yet to respond publicly, but he is likely to face tough questions during the upcoming Senate hearing, especially regarding his stance on vaccines and his views on public health.
