Grammys executive producer Raj Kapoor addressed the incident, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the “artistic black-tie” dress code.
Grammy Awards executive producer Raj Kapoor recently shared his thoughts on Bianca Censori’s red carpet stunt with her husband, Kanye West, that went viral during the 2025 Grammys.
On February 2, Censori caused a stir when she dropped her coat on the red carpet to reveal a nearly nude outfit. Kapoor, who also serves as the showrunner for the Oscars, explained that while the Grammys have an “artistic black-tie” dress code, its interpretation can vary within the music industry. He emphasized that performers must follow strict guidelines, but attendance and nominee dress codes are handled by the Recording Academy.
Despite the flexibility for attendees, Censori’s outfit may have breached broadcast standards. CBS has a “Standard And Practice Wardrobe Advisory” that prohibits exposed breasts, buttocks, and genitals. This policy, reinforced by the Federal Communications Commission, restricts any obscene content from being broadcast on TV. However, LAPD sources confirmed that no legal action would be taken, as the Grammys are a private event, and no complaints were filed with authorities.
Kapoor also revealed that neither West nor Censori were invited to the live ceremony. While West was nominated for a Best Rap Song award for “Carnival,” he wasn’t presenting or performing, and there were no seats reserved for them in the VIP area. The producer clarified that they weren’t included in the seating arrangements for the main show.
Following the red carpet appearance, an insider suggested that the stunt was an attempt to replicate the cover art of West’s 2024 album Vultures 1, which features Censori standing naked next to West in thigh-high boots and a small piece of black fabric.
The stunt sparked controversy and backlash, with some calling out West for allegedly humiliating Censori. Elizabeth Chambers, Armie Hammer’s ex-wife, criticized the interaction, describing it as coercive and unhealthy. She shared her concerns on Instagram, pointing out the power dynamics at play. Influencer Tinx also expressed discomfort, describing the scene as a “humiliation ritual.”
Meghan McCain also weighed in, calling for Kanye West to step out of the spotlight.
