Lily Collins, a first-time mom, has just shared an adorable first look at her baby girl.
Lily Collins, a first-time mom, took to Instagram on January 31 to share a heartwarming first glimpse of her baby girl with husband Charlie McDowell. The photo, which shows Collins’ hand gently reaching toward her baby girl, reveals the newborn lying peacefully in a basket with her name, Tove, embroidered in gold on the blanket.
“Welcome to the center of our world, Tove Jane McDowell,” Collins wrote in the post’s caption. “Words will never express our endless gratitude for our incredible surrogate and everyone who helped us along the way. We love you to the moon and back again…”
Baby Tove was born just a few days earlier in California, and her arrival had been kept under wraps throughout the surrogacy process. Tove is the first child for the 35-year-old Emily in Paris star and her 41-year-old husband, a writer and director. The couple has been married for over three years, and both come from famous Hollywood families—Collins being the daughter of musician Phil Collins, and McDowell the son of actors Malcolm McDowell and Mary Steenburgen, as well as Ted Danson’s stepson.
Collins’ followers immediately flooded the comments with well-wishes, and McDowell addressed those making negative remarks about surrogacy, writing, “It’s ok to not be an expert on surrogacy. It’s ok to not know why someone might need a surrogate to have a child.” He also humorously added, “That’s all for now because she just pooped and I need to change her diaper.”
McDowell, best known for directing Silicon Valley episodes and Netflix films like The Discovery and Windfall, met Collins on the set of the film Gilded Rage.
